Valérie Pittet, PhD

Valérie Pittet is chief of research unit at the Health Care Evaluation Unit (Head, Prof. Bernard Burnand) at the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine at the University of Lausanne.
She participates since 1996 to several projects linked to quality of care evaluation and quality indicators development (i.e. anaesthesiology : ADS, or prehospital emergency care). For many years, she is also working in the improvement of the RAND appropriateness method, development of criteria on therapies or processes (EPAGE, EPACT) and their application to clinical databases.
Since 2006, she actively participates to the Swiss IBD cohort study, coordinates the Datacenter and collaborates to research projects on appropriateness of care and patient-oriented research. She was nominated national coordinator of the Swiss IBD cohort study in 2008.
